Judge Tosses Charges Against Nevada Fake Electors
Apparently, it is not a crime if you are open about your attempt to flip the 2020 election results for Donald Trump.
So, a judge in Nevada just hit the brakes on the forgery case against six people who tried to play pretend-electors after the 2020 race. The prosecution tried to pin them for trying to slip a fake certificate into the mix to hand the state’s votes to Donald Trump instead of Joe Biden.
The judge essentially said that because they were so loud and public about what they were doing, it is hard to prove they were actually trying to pull off a secret fraud. The ruling argues that being open about your scheme basically voids the intent to deceive. It is basically the legal equivalent of saying you didn't steal the cookie because you told everyone you were reaching for the jar while doing it.
The state Attorney General, Aaron Ford, is already gearing up for another appeal, so this legal ping-pong match is far from over.
It turns out that if you want to break the rules, you should probably just announce it on a megaphone first.
