The monster 100% tax specifically targets anything remotely serious for security: drones weighing over 25 kilograms, docking stations, and anything packing thermal cameras. Essentially, if it can see in the dark or carry real weight, Uncle Sam is doubling the price tag at the border.
Regular civilian drones get off a bit easier with a 25% fee, while gear from close allies like the European Union, Japan, and South Korea gets slapped with 15%. Drones built in the UK get the friendliest pass at 10%—assuming all the parts actually came from those approved places.
Trying to jumpstart domestic drone manufacturing by making everyone pay double for foreign parts usually means domestic drones just become twice as expensive to assemble.
