West Virginia just told ICE to take their business elsewhere

Turns out, dragging people out of their homes just to fill up local cells didn't sit right with the mountain state.

So, ICE decided to run a little sweep called 'Operation Country Roads' earlier this year. They rounded up 600 people in just two weeks, most of whom hadn't actually done anything wrong. It was a massive dragnet, but it seems it didn't exactly earn them a warm welcome in the end.

After the dust settled, the state decided that maybe they aren't interested in being the designated holding pen for federal immigration sweeps. West Virginia officially stopped letting ICE keep detainees in their local jails. It's a pretty sharp 'no thanks' to the whole operation.

It’s wild how quickly a state can decide that federal overreach is suddenly bad for the local bottom line.
