Volkswagen decides 50,000 employees are just 'complexity' to be cut
The car giant is trimming down, and by 'trimming' they mean a small-town worth of people are out of a job.
So, Volkswagen is in a bit of a pickle. Between expensive electric transitions, high energy costs, and everyone suddenly wanting cars from China, they’ve decided the best way to move forward is to slash 50,000 jobs. Apparently, their European factories have enough capacity to build 500,000 more cars than anyone actually wants to buy.
The company also plans to cut its model lineup in half. They call this their 'Future Plan 2030', which honestly sounds like a corporate way of saying they’re trying to stop the bleeding while the ship is already halfway underwater. Even the unions, usually the first to throw a brick, are nodding along because the alternative looks even bleaker.
Big companies always view people as 'complexity' until the stock price tanks.
