USPS guy apparently thought ballots were just junk mail

Original version ·

Working for the United States Postal Service is clearly stressful, but one guy just found a unique way to handle his inbox.

A former USPS worker in Utah decided that the best way to handle a heavy workday was to take a shortcut. Instead of delivering hundreds of mail-in ballots, he just tossed them into a church parking lot dumpster.

When questioned, the guy admitted he was just overwhelmed and lazy. He claimed he didn't have any secret political agenda—he just wanted to lighten his load by ditching the ads and accidentally grabbed the ballots along with them. It is quite the strategy for clearing out a backlog.

A federal grand jury finally caught up with him, and now he is facing some serious legal trouble for his little trash-toss experiment. Seems like professional burnout has a way of turning into a federal indictment.
