Iran Accuses U.S. of Bombing a Nuclear Plant (That Doesn't Have Any Nuclear Stuff Yet)
Well, the Middle East is escalating again, and this time we're playing a very spicy game of "did we just bomb a nuclear reactor?"
So, Iran is screaming that the U.S. military just bombed their nuclear power plant in Darkhovin. Naturally, everyone panicked for about five seconds until the IAEA, the UN's nuclear watchdog led by Rafael Grossi, stepped in with some incredible "calm down" energy.
Turns out, the plant is in such an early stage of construction that there is literally zero nuclear material on-site. It is basically a very expensive, half-finished concrete slab in the desert. No radioactive risk, no glowing mutant camels, just some very angry construction workers.
Meanwhile, this whole situation is getting incredibly messy. The U.S. Central Command has been trading blows with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Drone strikes, missile interceptions in Jordan, and Kuwait complaining that their power and water plants got hit. It is a chaotic sandbox brawl, and sadly, three more American service members were killed this weekend, bringing the conflict's U.S. death toll to 17.
Bombing an empty concrete pad and calling it a nuclear strike is certainly one way to get the world's attention.
