The U.S. Military is now using space-age lasers to fry cartel drones
Forget missiles—the border is officially living in a sci-fi movie.
The U.S. military just decided that traditional air defense is too boring. They swapped out bullets for an Army Multipurpose High Energy Laser system to take down three cartel drones hovering near the border.
It sounds like something straight out of Star Wars, but apparently, the cartels have been using these little guys to spy on troops and help smuggle people. The military isn't saying exactly where it happened or which cartels were involved, just that they aren't tolerating the Peeping Toms anymore.
The best part? This isn't even the first time a laser was used in this area. Last year, the same military gear accidentally vaporized one of their own Border Patrol drones. Just a slight calibration issue, surely.
Technology is definitely outrunning the drug trade at this point.
