Iran claims it bombed a U.S. base in Syria as the bridge war heats up
So much for keeping things low-key. Iran and the U.S. are currently trading massive airstrikes, and those warnings about targeting infrastructure weren't just tough talk.
Things are escalating fast in the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims it pulled off a "surprise attack" on a U.S. special ops command center in Syria. They are bragging about destroying radar systems, wiping out helicopters, and causing casualties.
This was apparently revenge for a U.S. strike earlier in the week. But the American response was swift. CENTCOM unleashed a massive wave of airstrikes hitting military logistics, air defense, and coastal surveillance sites inside Iran.
And then there are the bridges. State media in Iran claims the U.S. blew up five bridges near a key port. Here is the wild part: just days ago, Donald Trump warned that civilian infrastructure was next on the target list, literally saying, "Next week comes the bridges."
Apparently, next week came early.
Keeping a promise is usually admirable, but fast-tracking a highway demolition project in the middle of a shooting war is a whole different level of directness.
