So, Donald Trump just casually announced he's secured a massive stake in Venezuela's oil reserves. Because why not?

Donald Trump is claiming a massive win, saying he brokered a deal to get the United States a stake in 65 billion barrels of crude. He is calling it the biggest oil deal in history and promising it will tank gas prices for everyone.

It is definitely a bold move after the U.S. Military grabbed Nicolas Maduro earlier this year. Marco Rubio is backing it, saying private cash is going to flood into Venezuela to make this happen. The catch is that these oil fields are basically empty shells. Developing them will likely cost billions of dollars and years of work before a single drop of gas actually hits a local pump.

Apparently, national strategy now involves playing landlord to South American oil fields that do not have any roads yet.
