Trump approves 30-year nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia
The US just agreed to build nuclear reactors in Saudi Arabia, because atomic power in the Middle East always stays strictly peaceful.
The White House signed off on a massive 30-year deal that lets American companies build out a nuclear energy program for Saudi Arabia. On paper, it is strictly for civilian electricity. In reality, the terms allow for uranium enrichment and plutonium processing, which happens to be the standard starter pack for making nuclear weapons.
To make things even wilder, the agreement actually restricts international inspectors from checking sites suspected of weapons development. So the US is helping construct the nuclear foundation while simultaneously locking out the watchdog group whose only job is making sure nobody builds a bomb.
Even Israel is openly panicking over it, and Congress is deeply split. Stopping the deal would require a veto-proof majority that simply does not exist. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists the administration would never agree to anything that risks nuclear proliferation.
Restricting atomic inspectors inside a nuclear agreement is definitely one way to guarantee no violations are ever officially found.
