Trump might livestream an execution, because why not?
The White House is currently debating if the upcoming firing squad execution should be turned into a public spectacle.
So, the administration is currently weighing whether to livestream the upcoming execution of Nidal Hasan. It would be the first military firing squad execution in decades, which is already a massive historical footnote, but now we’re adding the reality TV element.
Trump mentioned he is torn on the idea, suggesting it might act as a deterrent. Meanwhile, everyone from both sides of the aisle is basically shouting that turning a state execution into a viral stream is deeply un-American. Even the Vice President, JD Vance, has distanced himself from the idea, saying he has no intention of watching it if it goes ahead.
It’s the ultimate feedback loop of modern politics where the line between justice and content creation has completely evaporated.
