Trump Says He's Meeting Kim Again Amid Nukes Talk

Original version ·

Just when you thought the diplomatic bromance was over, Donald Trump is planning another sit-down with Kim Jong Un.

It feels like we’re back in 2018. Trump is claiming he’ll meet Kim Jong Un later this year, casually dropping that North Korea currently has exactly 57 nukes. Apparently, he thinks his personal rapport with the dictator is all we need to keep things chill.

The administration even cut short military drills with South Korea to signal good faith, but Pyongyang clearly didn't get the memo. While the South Korean president talks about building trust, Kim Yo Jong just flat-out mocked the whole idea, and the North followed up by firing more ballistic missiles anyway. The gap between the White House's optimism and the reality of missiles flying is wide enough to drive a tank through.

Personal charisma remains the primary defense strategy against a nuclear arsenal. It is truly a bold approach to believe that being friends with a guy who keeps launching rockets is a viable geopolitical plan.

57 nukes? that sounds like a number pulled directly out of thin air.
