A Senator Just Blocked a Bill to Save the Kennedy Center from Trump
Apparently, in 2026, we’re out here debating whether or not a President can just bulldoze a national landmark because his name didn't fit on the sign.
So, the Kennedy Center is currently in the crosshairs because Donald Trump Trump reportedly doesn't like that he couldn't slap his name on it. After a judge shut down his branding attempt, the place got shut down, and photos even surfaced of the President holding a sign that literally said 'Kennedy Center DEMOLISH.'
Senators Jeff Merkley Merkley and Lisa Murkowski Murkowski tried to pass a bipartisan bill to make sure this place doesn't turn into a pile of rubble. But Mike Lee Lee stepped in and blocked the whole thing, claiming it’s just partisan theater. He literally stood in the way of a bill meant to protect a national monument from a wrecking ball.
It’s wild that we are at the point where we need special legislation just to stop the President from playing real-life SimCity with federal property. The Kennedy Center is apparently now a casualty of a personal grudge match.
