After all the jokes about buying the island, the deal is finally happening.
Remember when Donald Trump Trump casually floated the idea of buying Greenland and everyone acted like he’d lost his mind? Well, he didn't buy it, but he definitely moved in. A new security deal is officially on the table, and it includes two major new military bases.
The agreement effectively gives the United States massive defensive control over the territory, keeping China and Russia at arm’s length. Mette Frederiksen Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen Nielsen seem on board, calling it an upgrade to the status quo. The best part? It doesn't even need Congressional approval.
History is usually written by the victors, but apparently, it can also be negotiated while everyone else is still laughing.
