Federal Court Greenlights Nationwide Fast-Track Deportations for Trump
Because the border was apparently just the beginning of the map for federal authorities.
A federal appeals court just gave the Trump administration the go-ahead to start using expedited deportation powers anywhere in the country, not just within a few miles of the border. This effectively tosses out the geographical limitations that kept these fast-track removals contained for years.
It turns out that if immigration officials find someone they deem undocumented, they can now fast-track the process without a judge involved, regardless of whether that person is in Texas or Ohio. The legal back-and-forth has been dragging on for ages, but this ruling essentially removes the 'border zone' restriction entirely.
The administrative state just gave itself a much longer leash.
