Donald Trump wants to ground Bombardier while Kansas is busy hiring

Original version ·

The trade wars are back, and this time Donald Trump is picking a fight with a Canadian jet maker that actually employs thousands of Americans.

So, Donald Trump hopped on Truth Social to declare that Bombardier planes shouldn't be sold in the US anymore. Apparently, he thinks Canada is treating America like a piggybank. The irony? Bombardier has massive operations in the US, especially in Kansas, where they employ thousands of people.

Naturally, Jerry Moran, the senator from Kansas, had to jump in and remind everyone that these factory jobs are actually kind of important for his local economy. The company literally builds planes and maintains thousands of jobs across 47 states, yet it is currently the main target of a high-stakes trade tantrum.

It is certainly an interesting strategy to threaten the company that literally writes the paychecks for your own voters.
