Tennessee prison boss quits after botched execution goes wrong

Original version ·

State official Frank Strada is out after yet another nightmare in the death chamber.

It is hard to believe, but Tennessee has managed to fail at the one thing they claim to be professional at again. Frank Strada, the head of prisons, just resigned following the absolute disaster of an execution attempt on Christa Pike. She survived two full doses of lethal drugs and is currently hooked up to a ventilator in a state of limbo.

This isn't even a one-off. Just months ago, the state couldn't manage to find a vein on another inmate. The governor has now slammed the brakes on all executions for the rest of the year, which is a nice way of saying they have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

The person in charge of life and death is out, but the system remains just as broken as it was last week.

how do you mess up a lethal injection twice? just hire someone who knows how to use a needle for crying out loud.
+4 solidA masterclass in stating the obvious, because apparently, basic medical competency is too much to ask from a state executioner
