State bans are booming, but Abortion pills are doing just fine

Original version ·

Turns out, you can pass all the laws you want, but the internet doesn't really care about state lines.

State legislatures are working overtime to block Abortion access, but the numbers are moving in the exact opposite direction. Thanks to the magic of telehealth, the actual count of procedures has jumped significantly even in places where everything is technically illegal.

The strategy is simple: remote doctors send pills through the mail from states where it is still allowed. Officials are now trying to sue to stop the mail, but providers are already betting that the logistics of modern shipping are faster than the court system. The black market for medicine is basically just regular commerce now.

Laws written for a world of physical clinics have officially hit a brick wall made of fiber-optic cables and shipping labels.
