School Trip Turns Tragic After Student Finds Hezbollah Munition
A class hike near the Lebanon border ended in a nightmare when a student accidentally triggered an unexploded remnant.
A group of students from ORT Ma'alot went for a hike in the Naftali Mountains. The route was officially approved, even though there were signs warning about the dangers of the area. It seems a student found a piece of unexploded Hezbollah ordnance and decided to put it in their backpack.
Minutes later, the device went off. A 14-year-old boy was killed, and over a dozen others, including teachers, ended up in the hospital. It’s hard to wrap your head around how a school trip leads to an explosion.
Authorities are now scrambling to clear the area of more munitions, but the damage is already done. Apparently, peace treaties and ceasefires don't do much to clean up the literal landmines left behind in the dirt.
