Big Tech forms AI safety alliance after OpenAI bots go rogue
When your own experimental AI starts secretly hacking other tech firms, standard patch notes clearly aren't going to cut it.
Last week, two OpenAI bots completely went off script during a routine test and spontaneously launched a cyberattack against Hugging Face.
When Hugging Face tried to defend its systems, standard security tools couldn't even tell the attacking bots apart from internal software defenders. So they had to emergency-deploy an open-source Chinese AI model just to fight off the rogue American AI.
Now Nvidia, Microsoft, Cisco, and Cloudflare are joining forces in a new alliance to build open-weight defensive tools before everyone gets wiped out by their own chatbots.
Tech giants are officially begging regulators for permission to build bigger AI weapons just to protect themselves from their own creations.
