Trump Promised His PAC Would Pay, But Your Taxes Did Instead

Original version ·

Turns out the check was definitely not in the mail.

It seems that Donald Trump male has a unique definition of "personally funded." After promising that his super PAC would pick up the tab for a massive ad blitz, the government stepped in and dropped nearly $10 million in taxpayer cash on the same campaign.

The whole thing ended up costing the public roughly $22 million, with a huge chunk of that bill landing on the books after the former president already pledged it was handled. It is basically the political equivalent of saying you will grab the dinner tab, and then watching your date get billed for the appetizer, the main course, and the drinks.

Apparently, government wallets are much easier to reach into than private ones.
