Supreme Court shuts down Trump's birthright citizenship ban

Original version ·

So, on its final day of the term, the highest court in the land decided that the Constitution actually means what it says. Imagine that.

The Supreme Court just wrapped up its session with a massive reality check for the White House. Donald Trump tried his absolute hardest to shred the 14th Amendment and end birthright citizenship for kids born on U.S. soil.

Instead of going along with it, the justices basically swiped left on the whole idea. They upheld the automatic right to citizenship, effectively killing what was easily the administration's most aggressive attempt to rewrite American immigration rules by executive decree.

Turns out even a highly conservative court isn't quite ready to delete the Constitution's most famous clause just because someone asked nicely on Twitter.
