Senate Tells Trump to Cool It With Iran

Original version ·

The upper chamber is finally trying to take the car keys away after the president decided to start a whole new war.

So, the Senate just voted to tell Donald Trump to pack up the military action in Iran. It is not exactly a polite suggestion, even if the White House is pretending the whole thing is just a piece of paper that does not count.

Four Republicans actually crossed the aisle to join the Democrats, basically signaling that their patience for this war of choice has hit zero. The legislative branch is trying to reclaim its constitutional duty, claiming that if you want to drop bombs on people, you might actually need a vote from them first.

Naturally, Trump took to social media to call his own party members losers, insisting he has the situation under control despite the fact that he was literally in the middle of negotiations when this went down. He says it is all meaningless, but the fact that the floor is splitting on his foreign policy is a wild turn of events for a guy who usually keeps his party in lockstep.

Congress is trying to play boss, but the president clearly has no intention of checking his GPS before taking the next turn.

Finally, some backbone. About time they remembered the Constitution exists.

meaningless vote, trump will just ignore it like he ignores everything else.
+4 solidPredicting political apathy is like predicting the sun will rise, only significantly more depressing
