The Senate map is shifting and everyone is sweating

Original version ·

With the primaries winding down, the battle for Congress just got weirdly unpredictable.

The math for the Democrats is simple: they need to snatch four seats away from the Republicans to keep the chamber. The problem is that the ground keeps moving under their feet, and the pickup opportunities are thinning out faster than my patience in a grocery line.

Meanwhile, the GOP is mostly playing defense, which sounds easy until you realize they have very few places left to actually flip. It is basically a high-stakes game of musical chairs where the music is about to stop, and nobody is sure who is going to be left standing without a seat.

Predicting the outcome of this is like trying to guess the weather in a hurricane.
