Saudi Pipeline Gets Hit by Drones, Gas Prices Go Vroom
Everything is fine, provided you don't mind selling a kidney to fill up your gas tank this week.
So, a drone decided to pay an uninvited visit to Saudi Arabia’s massive Petroline, forcing the whole thing to shut down. This pipe was the main backup route for getting oil out when things get spicy in the Strait of Hormuz, and now it’s basically just a very expensive paperweight.
The market absolutely panicked, sending oil prices soaring toward $110. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright is out here doing his best to say “everything is under control” while failing to mention when the oil might actually start flowing again. Meanwhile, diesel prices just hit a record high, and the experts are whispering that this inflationary nightmare isn't going anywhere for a while.
A few drones have managed to do more damage to the average wallet than a decade of bad economic policy.
