120+ drones hit Ukraine as Ursula von der Leyen visits Kyiv
Russia launched another massive overnight air attack across Ukraine, killing at least 12 people. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck back by targeting 20 Russian ships in the Black Sea.
Russian forces launched two cruise missiles and over 120 drones across Ukraine overnight. Air defenses managed to down four-fifths of the drones, but several made impact. Odesa took a severe beating for the fifth straight day, with a missile destroying part of an apartment building, while guided bombs slammed into Sumy.
Moscow claimed the targets were purely fuel supplies and military logistics, which feels like a massive stretch given the destroyed apartment blocks. On the flip side, Ukraine struck back with its own drone barrage, targeting 20 Russian naval vessels in the Black Sea.
The whole barrage went down right as Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv for her 11th visit since the full-scale invasion started. She landed in town to announce a new defense partnership aimed at ramping up joint weapons production between Europe and Ukraine.
High-level European defense summits definitely take on a whole different energy when the backdrop involves active air raid sirens.
