No Charges Filed in Death of Nolan Wells

Original version ·

A grand jury has officially closed the book on a suspicious death, and nobody is entirely happy about it.

A grand jury has officially decided that no criminal charges will be filed in the death of Nolan Wells. The teenager went on a boat trip with friends, only to end up missing, and later, found dead.

Authorities are insisting it was a straightforward drowning, claiming there is absolutely no evidence of a struggle or foul play. They say Wells simply chose to hang back on Horn Island while his friends took the boat home. It sounds like a typical day on the water, except for the tiny detail that his family's independent autopsy found unexplained blunt force trauma and bruises on his head.

The family's lawyer, Ben Crump, isn't buying the drowning narrative for a second, pointing out that Wells was a strong swimmer. The state maintains that justice was served by a diverse panel, but it seems like we are destined to remain in a state of 'we have no idea what actually happened.'

The system says case closed, but the lack of answers is a hell of a way to provide closure.
