NASA and SpaceX just yeeted a massive new eye into deep space
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is officially on its way to hunt for the universe’s biggest secrets.
So, NASA finally stuck the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on top of a SpaceX Falcon Heavy and sent it packing. It’s heading a cool million miles away to a lonely spot in space where it’ll basically be the most efficient cosmic scanner ever built.
It’s supposed to map the universe 1,000 times faster than Hubble. The rocket did its job, split in half, and landed back on Earth like a reusable toy, while the telescope is now busy unfolding its fancy sun shades and getting ready to turn on its infrared camera.
It’s nice to see a government project actually finish ahead of schedule and under budget, which is basically a unicorn sighting in the wild.
