Michigan Senate race is basically a coin toss right now

Original version ·

Primary night just wrapped up and things are looking delightfully messy for the Democrats.

If you were hoping for a nice, quiet election night, Michigan decided to skip that entirely. The Senate primary between Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens is currently so tight that calling it would be a total gamble. We have Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez throwing their weight behind El-Sayed, while Gretchen Whitmer is playing the establishment card for Stevens.

It’s a classic tug-of-war between the progressive and moderate wings of the party. Meanwhile, Mike Rogers is just sitting on the sidelines waiting for the dust to settle, already backed by Donald Trump. At this point, even the counting machines look like they need a nap.

Seems like the only thing both sides can agree on is that nothing is actually decided yet.
