Pentagon taps Musk, Gingrich, and Luckey to rethink modern war

Original version ·

Because apparently, the best people to plan the future of global conflict are three guys who have never worn a military uniform.

The Pentagon just launched Project Meridian, a new task force aimed at achieving total tech dominance on the battlefield. The weird part? The people in charge aren't generals. They are Elon Musk, Newt Gingrich, and Palmer Luckey.

None of these three men have actually served in the military. They are tasked with dreaming up the future of warfare in just 120 days. It is worth noting that the companies run by Musk and Luckey spend a lot of time trying to win massive defense contracts from the very government they are now advising.

It is definitely a bold move to outsource the strategy of high-tech killing to the same guys trying to sell the hardware.
