Kyiv gets hit hard while Patriot missiles sit in warehouses

Original version ·

So, Russia just launched another massive airstrike on Kyiv, killing at least 13 people. The wild part? Ukraine actually has the legendary air defense systems to stop this, they just don't have the actual ammo.

Imagine having a state-of-the-art home security system but forgetting to buy batteries for the alarm. That is basically Ukraine's current nightmare. Over the weekend, Russia fired a massive barrage of drones and missiles at Kyiv's residential areas.

The Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down over 360 drones and cruise missiles, but they couldn't stop a single one of the 29 ballistic missiles because they are completely out of interceptor missiles for their U.S.-made Patriot systems.

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out, those life-saving interceptor missiles are currently gathering dust in Western allies' warehouses. Meanwhile, Russia knows exactly how empty those cupboards are and is specifically spamming ballistic missiles to exploit the gap.

All of this is happening right as NATO leaders are packing their bags for a summit in Ankara. And to make the plot even thicker, Donald Trump is reportedly trying to fast-track some kind of peace mediation, even preparing his buddies Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to look into it.

Sending real estate developers to mediate a brutal European war while air defense ammo sits in storage is certainly a vibe.
