Ceasefire? Barely knew her: Israel strikes Lebanon after explosion
So much for that peace deal—Israel and Hezbollah are trading fire again after things went south in a hurry.
Apparently, a 'ceasefire' is just a fancy word for 'reloading' in this part of the world. After two Israel soldiers died in a mysterious explosion, Israel decided the truce was officially over and started hitting targets in southern Lebanon.
The whole thing moved at lightning speed. Israel issued an evacuation order with a 30-minute timer before the bombs started dropping in Tebnine. Meanwhile, diplomats are sitting in Rome trying to talk peace, while the actual fighting is making that look like a performative art project. The June ceasefire didn't even make it through the summer without turning into a punchline.
Diplomacy is officially competing with the sound of airstrikes for airtime.
