Israel bombs a mosque, claims it was an arms depot

Original version ·

Just another day in Gaza where a place of worship becomes the center of a military tug-of-war.

So, the Israeli military just hit a mosque in northern Gaza. Their story? They say Hamas was using the building as a secret weapons storage unit. Obviously, Hamas and local sources are calling that a total lie to justify bombing the site.

The IDF claims they sent out a heads-up to civilians before the strike, which is their go-to move for "mitigating risk." Meanwhile, even though there is supposedly a cease-fire deal hanging in the air, the fighting hasn't really slowed down at all. The reality on the ground is that whether it's a weapons depot or not, the buildings are turning to rubble while the peace plan remains a piece of paper.

It is amazing how a "demilitarized" future keeps looking more like a pile of dust.
