ICE strikes out again: Court says no to mandatory detention
The third federal circuit just handed ICE yet another embarrassing loss in court, and the lawyers are likely getting tired of the same old losing streak.

ICE has been acting like anyone living in the US is basically just standing at the border trying to get in, which conveniently lets them lock people up indefinitely without a bond. For the eighth time, a federal appeals court pointed out that the Trump administration's policy is completely out of touch with the law and the Constitution. Judges have shot down this specific power move in over 90% of cases because, shockingly, people who have lived here for decades actually have due process rights. It is hard to imagine a clearer sign that an agency might be overstepping its bounds than losing the same argument 13,000 times.
Apparently, the government still hasn't figured out that the Fifth Amendment applies to human beings regardless of their status.
