Isaias Hits the Coast: Generators and Trees Don't Mix

Original version ·

The first hurricane of the season finally showed up, and it served as a brutal reminder that some household appliances are basically just silent assassins.

Isaias finally made landfall, leaving a mess of trees, power outages, and flooded roads across the Gulf Coast. While structural damage was thankfully hit-or-miss, nature proved once again that it doesn't care about your roof shingles.

The most infuriating part of the aftermath? The death toll included preventable tragedies involving generators. Ron DeSantis DeSantis had to remind everyone that running a generator inside a garage is a quick way to ensure you never wake up to see the power turn back on.

It is a grim irony that a storm meant to clear the air ends up killing people with carbon monoxide. Basic survival instincts seem to be the first thing to go when the lights flicker out.

Seriously, how many times do they have to say don't run generators inside? It’s 2026, not the dark ages.
