Pete Hegseth is cleaning house at the Pentagon again

Original version ·

Another day, another high-ranking general out the door as the Defense Secretary continues his massive reshuffle of military leadership.

It seems like Pete Hegseth is officially in 'delete' mode. The latest casualty of his Pentagon overhaul is Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia, the guy responsible for strategy and policy. Sylvia held the job for less than a year before being told it was time to pack his bags for retirement.

This isn't an isolated incident. We are talking about roughly two dozen high-level generals and admirals who have either been fired, quit, or pushed into early retirement since Hegseth took over. It is a total gutting of the department's top brass, right while there’s a stalemate in the war with Iran and the president is talking about ramping things back up.

The turnover is so aggressive that even members of his own party are starting to raise eyebrows, with some calling the management style inept. It’s hard to imagine a smooth transition when you’re changing the captains while the ship is mid-storm.

Firing the architects of your own military strategy while considering new major combat operations is certainly a bold life choice.
