It’s a Graham Family Reunion for the Senate Runoff
The fight for Lindsey Graham’s old seat just got a little awkward.
So, the special primary to replace the late Lindsey Graham turned into a bit of a soap opera. Darline Graham, the senator's sister, is headed to a runoff after failing to clear the 50% threshold. She’s currently holding the seat thanks to an appointment by Henry McMaster, and she’s got the backing of Donald Trump, who basically called up the governor to make sure she got the gig in the first place.
Standing in her way is Ralph Norman, who managed to snag the second spot in the runoff. He’s out there playing the "proven conservative" card, trying to convince voters that the family business shouldn't be the only option on the ballot. Since nobody hit that majority mark, they’re going at it again on August 25th.
Political dynasties really are just like regular family gatherings, only with more expensive mailers and higher stakes.
