Germany just charged a Ukrainian officer with blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines
Remember when the Nord Stream pipeline went boom and everyone played "whodunit"? Well, Germany thinks they found their guy, and it’s going to make their next NATO group chat incredibly awkward.
Back in 2022, someone blew a massive hole in the Nord Stream gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea. It was the ultimate international mystery. Was it Russia? The US? Some rogue eco-warriors?
Now, German prosecutors have officially charged a Ukrainian military officer named Serhii K. They claim he led a secret eight-person team acting directly on behalf of Ukrainian state bodies to cut off Moscow's energy cash flow.
The suspect was arrested in Italy, extradited, and is currently denying everything. But the timing is wild because Germany has been one of Ukraine’s biggest allies, sending weapons and cash while, apparently, investigating their military for blowing up Germany's multi-billion-dollar energy lifelines.
Imagine footing the bill for a buddy's defense while realizing they might have run over the family car to prove a point.
