Gas hits $4 as U.S. and Iran fight again

Original version ·

Well, that peace deal lasted about five minutes. Gas prices are spiking again because the geopolitical drama in the Middle East is back on, and our wallets are paying the price.

Remember when gas prices were actually going down and everyone was feeling great? Yeah, forget that. The brief, beautiful dream of a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran has officially collapsed. Now, both sides are trading airstrikes again, and the oil markets are having a collective panic attack.

Because of this, the national average for a gallon of regular gas just hit $4 again, wiping out weeks of progress according to the AAA.

If you live in California, you are already crying at $5.49 a gallon. Meanwhile, Indiana is somehow chilling at $3.35, but probably not for long. The whole mess started back in February when the U.S. and Israel launched strikes, Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz, and oil became digital gold.

Just last week, President Trump was taking victory laps, bragging about how prices were dropping and telling everyone to remember it for the midterms.

Taking credit for the weather only works until it starts raining.
