Deported from U.S., killed by quake hours later

Original version ·

There is bad luck, and then there is whatever cosmic horror just played out for a group of Venezuelan deportees.

On June 24, a deportation flight took 146 people from Texas back to Venezuela. After landing in Caracas, they were temporarily held in a guarded hotel while officials processed their return.

But the universe had other plans. Just hours after they checked in, powerful twin earthquakes struck the area, causing the building to collapse.

These people survived the treacherous trek to the border, survived the detention facilities, only to be sent back and have the actual earth shake them out of existence on their very first night.

The universe really has a dark, twisted way of handling border enforcement.
