Judge tells Trump: You can't just ban the press because they're 'fake'
Looks like the White House needs to brush up on their basic civics homework after a federal judge stepped in.
So, Trump decided to yank the credentials of CNN, MSNBC, and Politico, basically because he didn't like their vibe. He hopped on Truth Social, called them fake news, and figured that was that. Turns out, it doesn't work that way.
A federal judge—who, hilariously, was actually appointed by Trump himself—basically told the White House to chill. The judge ruled that they can't just kick journalists out without a shred of due process. The government tried to play the 'national security' card, but the judge wasn't buying it, noting that the supposed issues were just routine reporting from months ago.
The administration didn't even have a clear set of rules for why they were being banned. It seems like throwing a tantrum doesn't hold up in a court of law as a valid reason to bypass the First Amendment.
It’s almost like the Constitution is a thing that actually matters, even when you're the one in charge.
