Congress is basically holding a mass resignation party

Original version ·

Almost a hundred lawmakers are peacing out before the next term even starts, and it’s getting weirdly crowded at the exit door.

It looks like Congress finally decided it’s not worth the headache. Almost 100 people who started this session are already calling it quits, either by choosing to retire or by getting kicked to the curb in primary elections. The legislative branch is having its own version of the Great Resignation.

Some are jumping ship before they get ousted, others are just tired of the circus. Either way, the sheer number of people walking away is hitting levels we haven't really seen before.

Turns out, when the job becomes a permanent state of bickering, the high-speed revolving door just starts spinning faster.
