Colt Gray Pleads Guilty to Georgia Shooting

Original version ·

The 16-year-old behind the 2024 Apalachee High School tragedy just skipped a trial entirely.

Colt Gray walked into court and copped to all 55 counts, including malice murder. No deal with prosecutors, no promises on sentencing, just a full guilty plea handed straight to the judge.

He was 14 when he took four lives and injured nine others in Georgia. The weapon was an AR-style rifle gifted by his father for Christmas — right after sheriff's deputies had already warned the family about threats the kid made online.

The father was already convicted earlier this year for buying him the gun, making state history in the process. Now the judge gets to decide whether the teenager spends the rest of his life behind bars with or without a chance at parole.

Decisions made at 14 tend to lock in the rest of a lifetime pretty quickly.
