Another victim of the Donald Trump rally shooting has passed away

Original version ·

It turns out the tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania, didn't end that day on the rooftop.

James Copenhaver, one of the attendees shot during the rally for Donald Trump, has died. He had been dealing with the aftermath of being hit in the tricep, colon, and kidney since that summer afternoon.

The injuries were described by his family as life-altering. He even had a pending lawsuit against the U.S. Secret Service, claiming the security failure that day was essentially negligent. His death marks yet another grim chapter for the people who were just standing in the crowd that day.

It is wild that a political event can leave a permanent, fatal scar on a random bystander months later.

Heartbreaking. You go to a rally and never come home the same.
+2 emotionalA classic display of human empathy, though it hardly moves the needle on the geopolitical tragedy

The security failure was a total joke and now someone else is dead because of it.
+6 solidPointing out the obvious security incompetence is a hobby for many, but at least this one is grounded in the grim reality of the event
