Boeing 737 Max planes need another check-up because of mysterious cracks
The FAA just dropped another reminder that flying is essentially trusting a metal tube held together by optimism and hope.
So, the FAA is officially requiring inspections on hundreds of Boeing 737 Max jets. Apparently, there are cracks showing up in the 'bear straps'—those metal bits designed to keep the doorways from doing anything dramatic while at 30,000 feet.
The agency is worried that if these structural elements aren't up to snuff, they won't be able to handle the stress of flight. Boeing says they are looking into it because the newer models share a similar build process to the older ones that started this whole mess.
It is comforting to know that structural integrity is currently an elective feature in modern aviation.
