Apple Hits $5 Trillion Market Cap by Barely Touching the AI Hype

Original version ·

While every other tech giant burns billions trying to teach computers how to draw hands, Apple just strolled past the $5 trillion mark by letting everyone else panic.

Nvidia hit the milestone first back in October, but Apple just took the crown as the world's most valuable company. The funny part is how they pulled it off.

While Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon are racking up debt and pouring mountains of cash into AI data centers, Apple mostly skipped the spending spree. Instead, they quietly hooked into Google's cloud infrastructure, sidestepping the massive infrastructure costs that have Wall Street sweating bullets.

Apple became a $5 trillion juggernaut by letting rivals burn cash on AI, quietly hiking MacBook and iPad prices, and preparing to lease iPhones directly to customers.

On top of that, Tim Cook is stepping aside for John Ternus right at the summit, and the company just launched a new leasing program so people can pay a monthly subscription to hold an iPhone instead of buying one.

Turns out the ultimate modern tech strategy is simply watching everyone else blow their budgets on GPUs while convincing customers to rent their hardware forever.
