Anthropic lets you play god with the entire U.S. economy

Original version ·

Forget doom-scrolling, now you can actually simulate the impending economic collapse yourself.

Anthropic just dropped an interactive model that lets regular people tinker with how AI might actually change the U.S. economy. Instead of reading another vague report from some think tank, you get to tweak the knobs and see if the gears grind to a halt or spin faster.

The goal is to move past the usual doomsday vs. utopia rhetoric and see how automation actually impacts labor and growth in real-time. It turns out that predicting the future is a lot harder when you are the one responsible for breaking the spreadsheet.

It is cute how they think people will use this for thoughtful analysis instead of just trying to make the graph go to zero for the memes.
