Your favorite late-night host is probably a robot now
The internet is currently drowning in fake clips of late-night legends, and they’re getting disturbingly good.
If you've been scrolling lately, you've probably seen Jimmy Kimmel or Jon Stewart saying things that definitely didn't come out of their mouths. It turns out that talk show hosts are the perfect targets for AI because their sets are static, their lighting is consistent, and they basically just sit in a chair talking to the camera.
These deepfakes are becoming terrifyingly easy to churn out, and because we are so used to seeing these people night after night, our brains just sort of auto-accept the video as real. It takes almost zero effort for someone with basic software to make a late-night host say whatever fever dream they cooked up.
Society is now officially at the point where a guy in his basement can host a more convincing talk show than the actual networks.
